｢I’m not sure if there is a pattern, a good story with heart gets to me, I probably like more violence than I should.
I like humor that isn’t slapstick but can be outrageous.
Commentary on the human condition that rings true without being too preachy.
I’m a sucker for beautiful images, dialogue that credits me with having a mind, actors that can act. Good films elevate one in some way, those that don’t should be exposed. Everything is subjective, some people like mysteries, epics, comedies, musicals. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, unfortunately, or fortunately, critics get to spread their wisdom (or stupidity).
Trust, but verify, see a movie or two and compare your opinions to those of the critic.」

｢Tomorrow I could have a totally different list. Such selections are terribly arbitrary. Someone could mention a different movie and I could easily include it in this list and bump another one out.
I tend to favor the expansive historical blockbusters with a central charismatic character who through perseverance and sheer will is a champion.
Movies are supposed to be entertainment, escapism from the mundane. Too much gore or pyrotechnics can detract from this.
Movies must have a plot, good acting, and good writing. They invite us into their world to allow us to live vicariously through a well-told story.
Cinematography and music help immensely to flesh this out.」
